Ensure that your file has been downloaded and unzipped to use.

g1
2- Once your image is open select it. you will see the image selected in the layers tab also (background image)
g2
3-  We need to make a copy of your image. You can do this by clicking on your image in the layer's tab (background image) and then right click and select duplicate layer. Rename your new layer so you know which one you are editing.
g3
4-  select your new layer (background copy) and then select the shape tool in the left toolbar.
g4
5- Select the shape you would like to crop with.
g5
6- Draw your shape over your image where you would like to crop. don't worry too much is it is not exactly where you need, we can move it later.
g6
7- you can see your shape in the layer's tab on the right highlighted.
g7
8-  Turn off the original image (background) by unchecking the box. you will then be left with the shape you cropped out.
Drag the shape layer over the copied image layer (background copy) you will see the the background copy layer highlight blue as you do this. Then they are together you can let them drop together. (the shape layer will not be below the background copy layer as a dropdown layer)
g8
9-with both the copied image (background copy) and the shape layer checked (the boxes ticked) you can now move the cropped area around.
g9
10- When you re select the original image (background) you will have both the original image and the cropped image at the same time.
g10
11- If you uncheck the original image again and then only select in blue the shape layer, you can now adjust the size of your crop and where it is located over the original image.
g11
12- To crop using the crop tool, select the crop tool on the left tool bar.
g12
13- Draw the rectangle (crop shape) where you would like it to go. you will see it appear in the layers tab.
g13

g14
15- You can also use the transform tab below the layer's tab to adjust your crop.
g15
